Privacy
We don't use cookies, we don't have accounts, and we don't run advertising trackers. We count visits anonymously so we know which reviews parents read.
Who we are
Should They Play? is run by Rob Wells, who is responsible for your data under UK data protection law. Email hi@robwells.dev with any question about privacy.
What we record
Page visits. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits. For each page view it records the page, the site you came from, your rough location, and your device type, operating system and browser. It doesn't use cookies. To count you once per day, it uses a code made from your request, which is thrown away after 24 hours. We only see totals, not individual visitors. How Vercel Web Analytics works.
Page speed. We use Vercel Speed Insights to measure how fast pages load. It records the page, load times, connection speed, device type, operating system, browser and country. It isn't linked to you. How Vercel Speed Insights works.
Delivering the site. Like every website, our host's servers receive your IP address and browser details so they can send you the page and protect the site from attacks.
Your answers about your child's age. If you tap "When did your child start?" on a review and choose an age, we add one to the count for that age. We don't store anything about you or your child, only the total for each age. To stop people voting many times, we keep a one-way scrambled code made from your IP address, the review and the date, which can't be turned back into your IP address and is deleted after 24 hours. Your browser remembers your own answer so it can show it to you; that stays on your device. The counts are stored with Upstash, which provides our database through Vercel.
Emails. If you email us, we keep your message and address only as long as we need to reply.
Why we record it
We rely on legitimate interests: knowing which reviews are useful, keeping pages fast, and keeping the site secure. None of it is used for advertising, sold or used to build a profile of you.
Who else sees it
Only Vercel, which hosts the site and runs the analytics on our behalf, and Upstash, which stores the anonymous age counts. Vercel may process data outside the UK. Vercel's privacy notice explains how it protects it. Our fonts and images are served from our own site, so no other company is contacted when you visit.
Children
This site is written for parents. We don't knowingly collect anything from children, and nothing we record identifies a visitor.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete data about you, or object to us using it. Because our analytics are anonymous, we usually hold nothing that identifies you. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator.
Changes
We'll update this page if anything changes. Last updated 20 October 2026.
